何宏山教授简介:

何宏山教授,1990年毕业于兰州大学无机化学专业,1996年获中山大学无机化学博士学位,美国北达科塔州立大学化学系博士后,香港浸会大学化学系访问学者。曾任职于中国宝安集团开发研究中心和美国南达科塔州立大学太阳能研究中心,2013年至今任教于美国东伊利诺斯大学。

Abstract:

  Sensitization is of importance to the near-infrared (NIR) emission of lanthanide ions and the solar energy conversion in photovoltaics. In lanthanide complexes, light-harvesting materials (ligands) are used to transfer the energy to the metal center to generate unique long-wavelength emission for sensitive detection of tumor markers. In solar energy conversion, light-harvesting materials (dyes) are used to absorb the sunlight and inject electrons to the semiconductor for the production of electricity. One common challenge in these two seemingly unrelated sensitization processes is the narrow absorption of the ligands or dyes in the visible region, leading to their poor performance. In this seminar, I will present our recent studies in these two areas with more focus on molecular design. The synthesis, characterization and performance of the new materials, especially porphyrin-based materials will be covered. The future research directions will also be discussed.
