Simon Lewis教授简历

Simon Lewis was born in London in 1978. Age 18 he lived for 1 year in Austria, where he worked for Novartis (then Sandoz). He returned to the UK to study chemistry at Imperial College London, working for a short period at Syngenta and gaining an MSci in chemistry. After some month spent working for GlaxoSmithKline in Dartford, he returned to Imperial College London to study for his Ph.D. with Prof. Donald Craig. His work concerned the Decarboxylative Ireland—Claisen rearrangement and its use in synthetic approaches to suaveoline, a pentacyclic indole alkaloid; the work was partially carried out at Pfizer in Sandwich. After gaining his Ph.D., Simon moved to Boston to work for Prof. Andrew G. Myers at Harvard University. This project was concerned with the synthesis of novel structural variants of the tetracycline antibiotics as potential treatments for drug-resistant infections. In 2008 he returned to the UK to take up an independent position at the University of Bath.
